The Great DAW Upgrade of 2013
Out with the old and in with the new.
I’ve been limping along with a 10 year old DAW (that’s Digital Audio Workstation, if you didn’t know that). Luckily for me, most of my recording work has been live tracked audio, which isn’t as intensive as trying to produce electronic synth stuff, so it worked OK. But alas, Windows XP is nearing the end of it’s usefull like and not that I’ve got some Windows 8 licenses, it was time for an update.
The new DAW is still a budget machine for sure, but still packs 4X the horsepower I was dealing with before. With that, it is quite capable of running the latest Sonar version, X2.
After some configuration and re-installations to get everything up and running, I’ve tested it out with a new song:
This started with the synth called Rapture and ended up layered with live tracked bass, additional synths, and live drums.
